Life and Times@EBW

As I sat down writing this blog on my experience in and with Ebusinessware (Ebw) a faint smile crossed my lips. It was nearly around 8 years ago I stepped in a modest two floor office of a company called Softkee Informatics Pvt. Ltd. (branded as Ebusinessware in 2003) in turbulent times of ‘01 recession. I never had an inkling that I will stay here for so long. The firm grew from 50 odd people (I was 51st) in 2002 to 500+ strong team by end of 2009. I grew from a software developer to become a part of global CTO Office, Associate Partner and Director of a new paradigm arm started in early 2009.

Well! The Journey Hasn’t ended yet!

I had switched three jobs in one year before joining Ebw and always had a firm belief that one should not spend more than an year in a firm. The belief was given strength by discussions and arguments going around when college mates and old friends/colleagues met. But the kind of exposure, learning and challenges I faced during my career here made me stick, stay, rejoice and exult. If someone has a yearning for challenges, is a go-getter and doesn’t feel he can sleep over an unsolved problem then this is THE right place to be. Here no one; be it a senior or junior; holds you back from delving into areas not even in your domain. You are on your own and a master of your career giving it a start, shape and right direction. I have worked in almost all technologies ranging from mainframes/COBOL/JCL to in vogue open source and mobile platforms, dirtied my hand in system setup, configurations and networks, and NOW am a part of pre-sales and sales team too.

I grew to a project lead in less than two years and was off to my first assignment in US in a premier bank on a migration project where the application interacted with eight different systems; involved heterogeneous technologies like PHP, PERL, C,C++, Solaris, Sybase, Shell scripting; and had users in New York, London and Singapore. Though I chose to be stationed in India and operate mostly from our Gurgaon office, there was never dearth of opportunities and worked at prestigious clients in various locations at the US, Europe and Asia Pacific. In fact I am one of the most traveled persons who has managed projects and clients at different demographics. My case is not a standout as there are a lot of colleagues who have done well and better and are still a part of the Ebusinessware family. We generally end up discussing nostalgic old times when we get to meet now, sadly not quiet often. Times have changed and I cannot recognize people by faces everytime I am back from another location but the culture and values are still the same. We still nurture talent, entrust and test our best people with challenges and defy the rules of one grade promotions when it comes to rewarding the most deserving poeple.
