Making Process Rules available Online!

For sourcing Counterparty information, Financial Analysts(FA’s) or Content teams refer approved Country Process rules to which the counterparty belongs. These Process rules are buried in bulky spreadsheets. Every time there is a change in the rule, relevant spreadsheets have to be modified and there is no audit history of changes. This spreadsheet is made available to the content team through versioning system as CVS or SharePoint. Every member of the content team checks out latest version of the rule document and uses that for souring data. There is always a risk of team member not using the latest rule version ending up sourcing incorrect counterparty information.

It was then thought of to provide data sourcing rules readily available to the team on CDI Application itself based on Party type, Country and States(wherever applicable). Provision was made to add or remove more conditions for displaying rules, Add/Update/Delete general, Transliteration and Validation rules. This was backed up with database to manage rules and keep audit of all the changes. System was made robust to assign version number to rule document. Solution was made generic and not limited to a single client. Moreover, It can be easily integrated with other projects with ease.

Java Caching System(JCS) was used for fast retrieval of process rules. All the process rules are contained in XML files that resides in database.

This facility was named ‘Online Help’ to clearly signify its very purpose. Online Help has tremendously helped FA’s to increase their Productivity and Quality of work.
