Corporate Action (CA) related work was started by CDI when one of our initial clients wanted to have an updated information about counterparties in their database. We started Capturing agreements and completion news with around 1100 major groups of the world (This figure increased many times over these years).

From just capturing news for our client’s counterparties, we started publishing CA (on CDi Website www.creditdimensions.com) with details of entities involved and also with summarized industry expert’s comments for giving a good understanding about any particular CA.

Corporate Action on our website is now more easier to understand as we have enhanced it with a few functionalities, such as, we can now see all the related news of any particular CA on single click. Means, In case we are reading news of completion, we’ll get a hyperlink on the same page and that hyperlink will direct us to previous announcements (agreement news) and vice versa. This functionality has provided users to keep track of the entire corporate action and have a better understanding. Further, We have empowered users to ask us for more details of any CA and also get an update on their mail ID for any new development in a CA.

The task of publishing CA involves regular checking of press release sections of corporate groups and also checking news portal regularly. It is a real good experience to get to know about the corporate mergers, acquisitions bankruptcies etc, which is happening in these troubled times of corporate world.

The last six months have been really productive in terms of CAs happening around the world. We have seen a lot of mergers and acquisitions in recent times. Starting from bankruptcy filed by Lehman brothers to the most recent of Oracle acquiring Sun Microsystems. It has been observed that companies, which were in an expansion mode before recession, are now trying to economize their business to have a better control and to concentrate of their core business profiles. For example Hitachi, Ltd is merging wholly owned subsidiary Hitachi Communication Technologies, Ltd with itself.
